In addition to the information and events below, be sure to check the events calendar and Monthly Newsletters to learn more about what's going on in the life of our church.
For the Week of 14 April
We welcome the Eshan family from Afghanistan, who are arriving here via Brazil. The father, Mashal Eshan, supported US forces in Afghanistan from 2004-2021. He comes with his wife, Nadia, and their four children Nagah (12), Deba (12), Setaish (9), and Muhammad (9). NKUMC will be sponsoring the family as they adjust to life in the US over the next few months. If you would like to be part of the effort, please see Pastor Tom or Pete Pellegrino.
Sunday’s special Easter Offering goes to support our resettlement ministry with the Eshan family.
Welcome back to Jay Hickey, who traveled to Honduras in mission last month. We are organizing a potluck luncheon after church on April 27th to hear about what God is doing there and how we can be involved. There are sign-ups in the narthex for the potluck.
The Thursday Pastor’s Study meets each week at 1:00 p.m. in the church library or at 7:00 p.m. by Zoom. All are invited to attend. We alternate between traditional Bible Study and different books that help illuminate our faith and the way we practice it. Following Easter, we will spend several weeks reading and discussing the letters of Paul. NOTE: DUE TO HOLY WEEK, NO THURS MEETING THIS WEEK.
We will be doing a park cleanup following worship on May 4th in honor of Earth Day. We’ll meet at Ryan Park at 2 p.m. Use the Oak Hill Road entrance. BYO gloves.
We are looking for people who can help with our A/V ministry. Even if all you can do is press a button to advance slides during the service, we can use you! Talk to Pastor Tom, Pete Pellegrino, or Elaine Roffo if you are interested in helping.
Church membership is an act of taking vows to uphold the church with your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Contact Pastor Tom if you are interested in being baptized and/or joining NKUMC. New members engage in a three-session class as preparation.
From August 10-16, we are sending a mission team to Vermont to assist with rebuilding homes after the 2023-2024 floods. See Pastor Tom for details if you are interested.
Items crafted from tie-dyed fabric made by the women of Kabala, Sierra Leone are for sale in the narthex. All proceeds go to the women of Kabala and our mission partner, the Nar Sarah Clinic.
Please contribute regularly to our three ongoing collections in the narthex – food for the North Kingstown Food Pantry, supplies for the North Kingstown Animal Shelter, plastic films and bags for our recycling project, and clothing and small appliances for the Open Closet program at Open Table of Christ UMC in Providence.
The Thursday Pastor's Study is in-person in the church library at 1:00pm and by Zoom at 7:00pm (contact the church office for the Zoom link.) Click here for Book Study info.
