Happy Two Months in the US to the Eshan's
In addition to the information and events below, be sure to check the events calendar and Monthly Newsletters to learn more about what's going on in the life of our church.
For the Week of 28 July
The funeral for Carol Dearlove, a member of NKUMC since 1974, will be held in the sanctuary this Saturday at 3:00 p.m. with a reception following in the Fellowship Hall.
Remember to RSVP to Pastor Tom if you are planning to come to the Open House/Picnic at his house on Friday, August 8th from 5-7 p.m. There is no charge, but any donations you wish to make will go to support the ministry of New England Justice for Our Neighbors, a United Methodist Immigration Ministry. The address for the event is 226 Kane Avenue, Middletown, RI.
We have exceeded our goal for Phase 1 of the “Air and Share” capital campaign! Installation of the air conditioning in the sanctuary can commence! We’ll also be sending big checks to Our Little Roses orphanage and the Nar Sarah Clinic as a result. The next phase is to extend the hospitality of air conditioning to the other spaces that community groups use – the Fellowship Hall and the central corridor. To contribute, please use the envelopes in the pews to designate how you want it to be used – all for A/C, all for mission, or a mix of the two. You can also send a check to the church with “Capital Campaign” in the memo line, or use our Venmo to donate digitally (@NK-United-Methodist-Church)
The Thursday Pastor’s Study will resume on August 21st with a study of Paul’s Letter to the Romans. Please read Romans 1-6 in preparation.
We are looking for people who can help with our A/V ministry. Even if all you can do is press a button to advance slides during the service, we can use you! Talk to Pastor Tom, Pete Pellegrino, or Elaine Roffo if you are interested in helping.
Church membership is an act of taking vows to uphold the church with your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Contact Pastor Tom if you are interested in being baptized and/or joining NKUMC. New members engage in a three-session class as preparation.
Items crafted from tie-dyed fabric made by the women of Kabala, Sierra Leone are for sale in the narthex. All proceeds go to the women of Kabala and our mission partner, the Nar Sarah Clinic.
Please contribute regularly to our three ongoing collections in the narthex – food for the North Kingstown Food Pantry, supplies for the North Kingstown Animal Shelter, plastic films and bags for our recycling project, and clothing and small appliances for the Open Closet program at Open Table of Christ UMC in Providence.
The Thursday Pastor's Study is in-person in the church library at 1:00pm and by Zoom at 7:00pm (contact the church office for the Zoom link.) Click here for Book Study info.
The ecumenical church community of North Kingstown provides a free Sunday dinner for our friends and neighbors throughout the year. See "Community Dinners" under Community Outreach to learn more.
