What's Happening

For Week of 14 September  

• Our church office hours have changed!  The church office is now open: Wednesday 9:30-1:30; Thursday 11-3; and Friday 11-3. 

• Calling all pets!  We are collaborating with St. Paul’s to host a Blessing of the Animals service on Saturday, September 19th at 5:15 p.m. on the Greeneway in Wickford Village.  All donations will support the North Kingstown Animal Shelter. 

• This Sunday, we welcome the newest member of NKUMC, Mimi Young! 

• NKUMC will host a joint Church Conference for our Cooperative Parish on Sunday, October 4th at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. All reports are due to the church office by September 18th. 

• The Pastor’s Study began a new book last week:  The Holy Spirit, by Adam Hamilton.  Purchase yours through your favorite local or online bookseller and join us.  Due to the change in office hours, the Pastor’s Study will now be on Thursday evening at 7:00 and Friday morning at 11:30. 

• Our 4-church Cooperative Parish is collaborating on a Habitat for Humanity build in South Kingstown this Fall.  The first date for volunteering will be Saturday, October 3rd from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.  Sign up in the narthex if you are interested.  There are a limited number of spots available for each date. 

• To support the North Kingstown Food Pantry, we are going to supply the ingredients for a “Recipe of the Month” meal kit in January.  Please put the supplies in the narthex on the shelves that the Sierra Leone items were previously on. We need to collect supplies for 100 bags.  Each bag will contain: 

Spaghetti, 1lb Dry 

Chicken, Canned (10 ozs.) 

Diced Tomatoes, 15 Oz Can (2 per recipe) 

Cream of Chicken Soup, Canned 

Mushroom Pieces, Canned 

• A Grief Support Group has formed in North Kingstown and is meeting in the Church Library on Wednesdays at 4:30. There is no cost to participate in the group.  Contact Paul Hodosh to register at paulhodosh@gmail.com. 

• Please contribute regularly to our four ongoing collections in the narthex – food for the North Kingstown Food Pantry, supplies for the North Kingstown Animal Shelter, plastic films and bags for our recycling project, and clothing and small appliances for the Open Closet program at Open Table of Christ UMC in Providence.   

The ecumenical church community of North Kingstown provides a free Sunday dinner for our friends and neighbors throughout the year. See "Community Dinners" under Community Outreach to learn more.
